About

Hello!  In December of 2019, I was named as the 2020 Pennsylvania Teacher of the Year and I am so excited to serve in that role.  I am supported by wonderful students, parents, and colleagues and continue to inspire me to improve my teaching craft and to advocate for innovative teaching and learning.  I am proud to be the 2019 AMLE National Middle Level Educator of the year as well as the 2018 Gilder Lehrman National History Teacher of the Year. I am an Apple Distinguished Educator (ADE Class of 2015) , National Board Certified Teacher, Keystone Technology Integrator, and the 2016 PBS Lead Digital Innovator for Pennsylvania.  I am currently employed as an 8th Grade American History teacher at North Hills Middle School within the North Hills School District near Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.  I have presented at several educational conferences, including ADE Worldwide, ISTE, AMLE, PETE&C, the Allegheny Intermediate Unit’s Learning Together Conference, Digital Learning Days, Center for Creativity STEAM Showcase, PMLE Annual Conference, and the Pennsylvania School Board Association Conference. I live in South Fayette Township with my wife, Sarah, and children, Julia and Noah.
